30 days: USDT, black-market dollar and the bank rate
03Why
Why are these three rates different?
- The bank rate follows the State Bank of Vietnam's central rate, but buying dollars at a bank requires a valid purpose and is limited.
- The black-market rate reflects cash supply and demand outside banks and tends to sit above the bank rate when dollars are scarce.
- P2P USDT is a "digital dollar" bought with bank-transferred dong, so its price usually stays close to the black-market rate: both serve dollar demand outside banks.
Trading foreign currency at unlicensed places is illegal in Vietnam. coinglee shows these rates for reference only and does not encourage unlicensed currency trading.

USDT vs the black-market dollar today
At 06:24, 15 Oct 2026 (GMT+7), the black-market dollar sells at 26,050 VND and buys at 26,000 VND (source: tygiausd.org). The cheapest USDT on P2P, 25,994 VND (Binance P2P), is 0.21% cheaper than the black-market dollar.
Is the USDT price the same as the black-market dollar?
Not exactly, but usually close. Both reflect dollar demand outside the banks, so the gap is often only a few dozen dong; the table above shows the current gap.
Why is USDT often cheaper than the Vietcombank USD rate?
The bank's USD selling rate includes the bank's margin and only applies to transactions with a valid purpose. P2P USDT is priced by supply and demand between users, so it can sit below the bank rate.
