How to Buy USDT with MoMo on P2P – Price, Steps, Limits and Risks
Legal notice: since 1 September 2026, under Decree 284/2026/ND-CP, individuals in Vietnam who trade crypto-assets other than through a provider licensed by the Ministry of Finance can be fined 30–50 million dong. Binance, OKX and Bybit are not licensed in Vietnam. coinglee provides price information for reference only.
Many people in Vietnam use MoMo every day and would rather pay for USDT with it than with a bank transfer. All three big P2P markets, Binance, OKX and Bybit, have sellers who accept MoMo. But fewer sellers take it, the price is usually a little higher, and e-wallets have their own limits and rules. This guide covers how to buy with MoMo, what it costs compared with other methods, and what to watch out for.

Is USDT more expensive via MoMo?
Usually slightly. Many P2P sellers want to receive bank transfers, which have higher limits and are easier to reconcile. Fewer sellers accept MoMo, and many of them only for small amounts. Fewer choices means a weaker price. In typical market conditions the MoMo price is a few dozen to around a hundred dong per USDT above the bank-transfer price.
On 1,000 USDT, a 60-dong difference is 60,000 dong. For small, occasional purchases the convenience can be worth it. For larger amounts, bank transfer usually wins.
Before you start
- A verified exchange account (Binance, OKX or Bybit) with 2FA turned on.
- A MoMo account in your own name at the highest verification level you can get. The name on MoMo must match your exchange verification.
- MoMo added as a P2P payment method. In the exchange app, open P2P → Payment methods → Add → MoMo and enter your MoMo phone number and full name exactly as in the MoMo app.
- Enough balance or a linked bank in MoMo to cover the payment, so you can pay within the time limit.
Buying USDT with MoMo, step by step
- Open P2P, choose Buy → USDT → VND, filter by MoMo and type the amount you want to spend.
- Pick an offer with a good price, limits that include your amount, a high completion rate and a short release time.
- Read the seller’s terms in the order. Some only accept MoMo for small amounts or ask for a specific transfer note.
- Place the order. The order screen shows the seller’s MoMo number and name.
- In MoMo, send the exact amount to the exact number shown in the order. Check that the recipient name MoMo shows before you confirm matches the name in the order.
- Return to the exchange and confirm you’ve paid. Keep the MoMo transaction screen until the USDT arrives.

MoMo limits and verification
- Limits depend on your verification level. MoMo sets daily and monthly limits for transfers. Check the current figures for your account in the MoMo app.
- Biometric authentication. Since mid-2024, larger online transfers in Vietnam need face authentication, which applies to e-wallets linked to bank accounts too. Set it up before you need it.
- Large amounts. For tens of millions of dong, bank transfer is usually easier, has more sellers and avoids hitting wallet limits mid-order.
Risks of paying for crypto with an e-wallet
- Wallet terms. Vietnamese e-wallets generally don’t allow use for crypto-related transactions. Accounts with unusual patterns, such as many transfers to different people in a short time, can be reviewed or temporarily locked.
- Paying the wrong number. Only pay the MoMo number shown in the exchange order, never one sent in chat or by message. A seller who asks you to pay a different number is a red flag.
- No reversal. MoMo transfers are instant and can’t be pulled back. If you pay and the seller doesn’t release, your protection is the appeal inside the exchange order, so keep the transaction screen.
- Third-party payments. Paying from a family member’s MoMo can get your payment refunded or the order disputed. The payer’s name must match your verified name.

Common questions
Can I sell USDT and receive MoMo? Yes, choose MoMo as the payment method on the sell side. The same checks apply: confirm the money in your MoMo app and that the sender’s name matches the buyer before releasing. See how to sell USDT for VND.
Why did the seller refund my MoMo payment? Usually because the name didn’t match, the amount was wrong, or you paid after the timer ran out.
